Our History

A Little History

The man for whom our school was named, Daniel Mini, was born in Gudo, Switzerland on February 22, 1852. When he was 20 years old he came to the United States. Eventually, he settled in Napa in 1872. Mr. Mini became a winemaker for a large winery in the Hagen Road area of Napa County and held this position for two years.

In 1874 Mr. Mini and his brother, Lorenzo, formed a partnership and established dairy ranch three miles north of what was then the Vallejo city limits. This partnership became the largest producing and distributing dairy in this area.

In 1902 the dairy expanded to a location within the city limits of Vallejo and continued to do business until 1908 when the brothers' partnership was dissolved. Dan Mini retired to his dairy ranch and there spent his remaining years until his death in 1921. The dairy land was to eventually become the site of our school!

Dan Mini was very active in civic affairs and fraternal work. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Naval Lodge F & A.M., Independent Order of Eagles and Native Sons of the Golden West.

Mr. Mini was survived by eight children and many grandchildren. Some of the streets in our area were named for members of the Mini family.
