Loree Tackmier

Transitional Kindergarten, Room 1

Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten!  I am Ms. Tackmier.  I have been teaching for VCUSD since 1999.  I hold a Multiple Subject Early Childhood Credential from Sonoma State University.  I love little ones!  I really enjoy showing our kids that school can be fun and engaging.   A former Kindergarten teacher, 6 years ago I helped to design and launch the Transitional Kindergarten Program for Vallejo Unified.   Tk is a 2 year kindergarten program for students turning 5 in September, October, November and December.  Yes, I have 24 4 year olds all by myself.  (AHHHH)  lol  My babies are wonderful!!!  I truly enjoy teaching our kids that they are powerful! They are successful!  They are smart!  They are capable!

When I am not teaching TK (or Pre-k during the summer), I lead a very active life with my daughter Kate.   I have over 160 animals of 11 different species.  I teach 4-H.  I manage poultry shows.  I raise and show chickens and pygmy goats.  I ride horses.  I nanny.  I perform at Renaissance and Dickens fairs.  And I run Disney races (5ks , 10ks and halves.)

I love our Dan Mini Community and hope to see all of our wonderful families and our amazing Family Nights!

Laurie Potts

Kindergarten, Room 20

My name is Laurie Potts and I teach Kindergarten in Room 20. This school year will be my 20th year of public school teaching. Before becoming a public school teacher, I taught preschool, mommy and me classes, and arts and crafts to children, for twelve years. I have always worked with younger children -  Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade. Most of these years I have taught First Grade. As you can see, I really enjoy and relate to younger children. I believe that the primary years are so important to a child's academic and social growth. Your child should feel that school is a wonderful place, and should also feel safe, secure and happy here. My hope for your child is to become a curious, creative and compassionate little person. Your child will build self confidence in Kindergarten to meet the bigger world.  In Kindergarten we learn to share, care, and cooperate. I hope to be part of your child's healthy and happy growth.

Taira Pallares

Kindergarten, Room 11

Hi, I'm Taira Pallares and I'm a kindergarten teacher at Dan Mini Elementary school. I have been teaching in Vallejo for 10 years but I've been working in a classroom setting since 1993. I graduated college and the credential program at Chico State University in 2000. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. My goal is to educate children and make them excited to learn and be at school. I want them to feel safe at school and know the importance of getting a good, quality education. I am a mother of two school-aged children who are my everything! I love to go camping, the beach and spend time with family and friends.
